Voting has officially opened for the 60th TV WEEK Logie Awards as the Gold Coast prepares to welcome Australias A-list of television stars. Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said Queensland would roll out the red carpet to host the event.

Weve proven Queensland is the events capital of Australia and were determined to host the best Logies of all time, she said. This event will deliver strongly for Queenslands economy and were working with Tourism and Events Queensland on the best way to leverage this event to inspire TV viewers around Australia to visit Queensland. Tourism Industry Development Minister Kate Jones said the TV WEEK Logies would cap off an exciting few months on the Gold Coast, headlined by the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

In a matter of months the Gold Coast will go from gold medals to Gold Logies, she said. Hosting the TV WEEK Logies on the Gold Coast is a real coup for Queensland and I know well put on a show unlike any seen before in the events 60-year history. Were determined to make sure the Gold Coast capitalises on its new reputation as a hub for major events.

Having hosting rights will not only allow us to welcome the biggest stars of Australian television to the best address on earth but it will give us a platform to show the rest of the country our unique tourism offerings and world-class experiences.

Queensland tourism has flourished under the Palaszczuk Government our major events calendar doubled in value to $600 million in the last term of government.

This year, our Its Live! In Queensland events calendar will inject $780 million into the states economy. Hosting major events like the Logies helps to cement our reputation as Australias best destination for major events.

Voting is open now and will close on Sunday, April 1 with viewers able to vote in the 10 Most Popular categories which include Most Popular Actor, Most Popular Actress and of course the Gold Logie.

TV WEEK editor Thomas Woodgate said he expected the Gold Coast event to break all previous Logies records.Last year, we saw an impressive number of votes lodged and I expect us to break all records again this year, he said.

I urge everyone to get voting to make sure their favourite star and show makes the shortlist. The Queensland Government, through Tourism and Events Queensland, secured the TV WEEK Logies in 2017 for four years from 2018 - 2021. The ceremony will be held at The Star on Sunday, July 1, 2018.
