Costa Rica,Saudi Arabia : Agricultural production and renewable energies bring Costa Rica closer to Saudi Arabia

In the framework of the official visit to Saudi Arabia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Manuel A. Gonzlez Sanz, had a meeting with the Chief of Investments of the Saudi Agricultural and Livestock Investment or Sovereign Agroindustrial Fund of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Addulrahman Al - Hassan.

At the meeting, Al-Hassan stressed that the Sovereign Agricultural Fund would be interested in importing from Costa Rica grains, especially sugar, and find a local partner to co-invest, produce and export to the Middle East through the port of Jeddah.

He also expressed the interest to increase the level of imports and seek partners in Costa Rica so that, with the Saudi capital, alliances can be established to improve production capacities, specifically in technological matters.

Foreign Minister Gonzlez expressed his satisfaction with the strategic alliance that is being formed between both countries on the way to developing models of co-investment and increased trade. The Minister recognized Saudi Arabia's leadership in the Arab Muslim world.

Renewable energy

Minister Gonzlez also held a meeting with the Minister of Renewable Energy of the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Minerals of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Abdulhakerm Faleh Al Shehri, with whom he analyzed the possibilities of our country supporting Saudi Arabia in the transformation of its energy matrix, the development of geothermal and wind energy in different parts of the kingdom.

Both authorities evaluated the cooperation alternatives in order to reach a post-2030 green economy, for which Saudi Arabia will study the possibility of a visit to Costa Rica in the coming months to know in situ the projects that the Costa Rican Electricity Institute has and make alliances through a memorandum of understanding.
