Aug 10, 2018 (Euclid Infotech Ltd via COMTEX) --

The development of ecological tourism was discussed by the participants of the meeting of the Governmental Commission for Social and Economic Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region, which was held in the Kamchatka Territory under the leadership of the Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

"It is good that people are traveling. This is a sign that interest in the Far East has become very high. But it is obvious that the situation requires additional solutions, "said Dmitry Medvedev.

The head of the Cabinet of Ministers drew attention to the poor development of the tourist infrastructure in the region. "The peak of the tourist season is now on Kamchatka. And almost all the places in the hotels are filled. Therefore, even for individual participants in the meeting, those who were engaged in training had to spend the night in tents. In fact, this is not a joke. This means that, despite the fact that Kamchatka, for example, is a very beautiful, special region, nevertheless there are not enough places, "he said.

The Prime Minister informed the participants about the meeting with the employees of the Kronotsky State Nature Reserve - one of the oldest in Russia. "People who work there, of course, care about the development of ecological tourism, attendance. And that we have something to see, everyone was convinced. I think, even in this sense it is very important that we periodically conduct such kind of outreach activities to understand the problems associated with the development of individual industries, "Dmitry Medvedev believes.

Participants of the meeting also discussed plans for work in the economy and social sphere; implementation of major investment projects; creation of infrastructure for the export of goods.
