Dec 06, 2018 (Euclid Infotech Ltd via COMTEX) --

All the harvesting work in the plant has been completed in the optimum time. This was reported by the Minister of Agriculture of the Kaliningrad region Natalia Shevtsova.

The area of grain and leguminous crops to harvest amounted to 102 thousand hectares. 442 thousand tons in bunker weight are scoured. This is 5% more than last year.

The average yield of grain and leguminous plants was 43.4 centners per hectare (4% higher than in 2017). According to these indicators, the Kaliningrad region ranks eighth in the ranking of Russian regions. The national average grain and leguminous yields in bunker weight is 26 centners per hectare. The minister paid special attention to the results of corn harvesting. This culture showed a significant increase. Moreover, its cleaning began 30 days earlier than the average time.

According to the latest information from the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia on November 26, the Kaliningrad region ranks first in the country in terms of corn yield (113 centners per hectare in bunker weight). In some fields of the region, it reached 200 centners per hectare. The average yield of corn in Russia is 49 centners per hectare.

The climatic conditions of the current year contributed to improving the quality of wheat grain. 192.5 thousand tons or 93 percent of the gross harvest were attributed to the food category, which is almost four times higher than last year, said Natalya Shevtsova. She also clarified that the current crop was formed in arid conditions for plants. Against the background of high positive air temperatures in spring and summer, the total water availability of crops for growth was covered only by 36%.

The area of harvesting industrial crops amounted to 37,900 ha. 87 900 tons were ground in bunker weight of oilseeds and essential oil (rapeseed, soybean, camelina, mustard, oilseed radish, cumin) with an average yield of 20.8 centners per hectare.
