The regional governor Vladimir Ilyukhin reported on the social and economic development of the Kamchatka Krai to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who is on a working visit to Kamchatka.

"Kamchatka is dynamically developing steadily for several years on all major socio-economic indicators. The basis of the economy was and is the fishing industry, fishing industry complex. Today there is a way, a red Putin, the main thing for us. Today, our fishermen have extracted more than 280 thousand tons of salmon. Almost all the records that had been achieved before were broken. Putin continues, "Vladimir Ilyukhin informed the head of the government.

The governor noted that for 10 years Kamchatka has been the leader in the extraction of aquatic biological resources. According to him, Kamchatka accounts for about 38-40 percent of production in the Far Eastern Federal District and a quarter of all catches in the country.

"Our fishing industry is also a leader in investment in infrastructure. In recent years more than 30 billion rubles have been invested in the shore, in the creation of a new infrastructure. 20 new modern fish-processing industries have been built, producing quality, cost-effective products that are in demand. These plants meet almost all modern requirements. We have a daily production capacity of 400 tons at some factories. Today, all the necessary conditions for storage have been created-refrigerating capacities of up to 35-40 thousand tons. The prospects for the development of the fishing industry complex are very good. At one time, the closure of drift-net fishing contributed to the volumes that our fishermen catch, "the head of the region noted.

The development of the fishery complex is assisted by new instruments of economic policy - TORs and the Free Port of Vladivostok. "We have about 170 residents of the TOP, many of them are related to the fishing industry, which gives them preferences, and the industry is actively developing," said Vladimir Ilyukhin.

The head of the region reported on the development of the social sphere. "By the results of the first half of the year, we fulfilled all the indicators of the May presidential decree. At us the growth of wages as a whole in economy considerable, somewhere 70 250 rubles. Significant growth in health care, education, culture. We continue this work, "he said.

According to the head of the region, improving the quality of life directly affects the increase in the number of Kamchatka. "For the first time in 27 years, we have a population growth. Yes, it is small, according to the results of 2017, approximately 800 people, but this is already growth. Data for the first half of 2018 indicate that we are entrenched in this situation. In this share of growth of about 70% is migration, our territory has always been transit. But the fact that people began to come and stay is very important for us, "he summed up.
