Russian Federation : Miratorg increased by 29% to 1.6 million tons gross yield of cereals and legumes in 2018

Dec 06, 2018 (Euclid Infotech Ltd via COMTEX) --

Miratorg Agribusiness Holding, the largest grain producer in the Russian Federation, reports that the gross harvest of grain and legumes in the fields of the agricultural holding in 2018 was 1.6 million tons, which is 29% more than in the previous year.

Miratorg is the leading vertically integrated agribusiness holding in Russia. Crop production is the basis of the entire production chain of the agricultural holding: its own production of basic raw materials, from which feed mills for the livestock and poultry divisions of the company are made at feed mills of the agricultural holding at the production stages and has a positive effect on its cost.

Production of cereals and legumes of the company is concentrated in ecologically clean areas of Belgorod, Kursk, Oryol and Bryansk regions. The main crops are winter wheat, triticale, soybeans, and corn. In 2018, the gross grain harvest amounted to about 1.36 million tons, legumes - 241 thousand tons, which is 25 and 54%, respectively, more than in 2017.

The increase in the gross harvest of grain and legumes is due both to the expansion of the sown area, including through the introduction of abandoned land into circulation, and an increase in yield. So, the corn yield in the current year exceeded the figure of the previous year by 16%, and soybeans - by 24%. To increase the yield and preserve soil fertility, Miratorg actively applies advanced technologies of precision farming and careful use of soil resources, uses the latest agricultural equipment, as well as natural organic fertilizers obtained at the company's livestock production sites.

Miratorg is implementing a long-term program to increase the production of domestic high-quality meat. The strategic goal of the agricultural holding today is the complete self-sufficiency of raw materials for animal feed - they account for 75% of the cost of meat. To meet the growing demand for feeds in livestock divisions, the agroholding plans to continue to increase its acreage by returning to fallow lands in agricultural circulation, and will continue to invest in improving the quality of the soil and, consequently, crop yields, the agricultural holdings press service commented.
