Russian Federation : Sergei Donskoy urged enterprises in Chelyabinsk to step up the transition to modern eco-technologies

Mar 07, 2018 (Euclid Infotech Ltd via COMTEX) --

Opening the meeting on the issues of environmental development in the Chelyabinsk region, the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Sergey Donskoi called on representatives of the largest enterprises in the region to step up the legal steps for the transition to BAT (the best available technologies).

According to him, the implementation of mechanisms to address environmental problems in Chelyabinsk will create a model of environmental development for all Russian cities, where the level of negative influence of industry and transport on the quality of life of the population is high.

Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology - Head of Rosprirodnadzor Artem Sidorov said: "Chelyabinsk is the most typical example of environmental problems in industrially developed cities. Undoubtedly, the main factor of environmental risk in Chelyabinsk is the pollution of atmospheric air. " The contribution of industrial enterprises to air pollution is the main one and accounts for more than 48% of total emissions, 32% brings motor transport. The contribution of the municipal sector, including the urban landfill, is 20% of the total.

The minister instructed Rosprirodnadzor, together with the regional environmental department, to develop a roadmap for the region's environmental development in March, which will allow residents to feel real improvements in the quality of life every year.

Recall, from 2019, the requirements for the transition to BAT are becoming an obligation of the 300 largest enterprises in Russia.

In addition, S.Donskoy instructed Rosprirodnadzor to speed up work on checking previously approved permits for emissions and discharges (draft standards for maximum permissible emissions). Despite the fact that these standards have been approved earlier, Rosprirodnadzor questions the reliability of the indicators declared by the enterprises and, accordingly, the reliability of the approved standards.

The meeting was attended by: Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation - Head of Rosprirodnadzor Artem Sidorov, Governor of the Chelyabinsk Region Boris Dubrovsky, State Duma deputies, representatives of the Chelyabinsk region authorities, and industrial enterprises: PJSC "Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant", PJSC " Magnitogorsk Metallurgical Combine ", CJSC" Russian Copper Company ", JSC" Chelyabinsk Electrometallurgical Combine ", etc.
