                       National Weekly Rice Summary
                 (Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas-California)

                             Domestic Trend
   
   In the south, long grain milled rice prices steady to 1.00 higher; medium 
grain milled rice prices steady to 2.00 higher.  Parboiled prices steady to 
1.00 higher.  Second heads and Brewers steady to .50 higher.  Rice by-products: 
Rice Bran, Millfeed and Rice Hulls mostly steady.  
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices 3.00 higher.  Second heads 
steady to 1.00 higher and Brewers steady to 1.00 lower.  Rice by-products:  
Rice Bran prices 5.00 higher; Rice hulls market not established.  Mills are 
having to pay for disposal of rice hulls. 
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Monday 5th, Mar 18 closed .07 higher at 
12.53; May 18 closed .07 higher at 12.805; Jly 18 closed .05 higher at 12.995.  
US dollar index on Monday settled at 89.58.
