                       National Weekly Rice Summary

                             Domestic Trend
   
   In the south, long and medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Parboiled 
prices steady.  Second heads and Brewers steady.  Rice by-products: Rice Bran, 
Millfeed and Rice Hulls steady.  
   In California, medium grain milled rice prices steady.  Second heads and 
Brewers steady.  Rice by-products: Rice Bran steady.  Rice hulls market not 
established as most mills continue to pay for disposal of rice hulls. 
   CME Rough Rice settlements for Monday 16th, May 18 closed .055 lower at 
13.055; Jly 18 closed .075 lower at 13.015; Sep 18 closed .08 lower at 12.095.  
US dollar index on Monday settled at 89.44.  April 15 NASS crop progress report 
for Rice:  percent planted in Arkansas 27, Louisiana 87, Mississippi 18, 
Missouri 11, and Texas 70.  Rice emerged percentage:  Arkansas 3, Louisiana 66, 
Mississippi 5 and Texas 55.
