USDA-MD: Dry Whole Milk - National

MADISON, WI. November 9, 2017 (REPORT 45) -

MD DA710 Dry Whole Milk - National

National dry whole milk f.o.b. spot prices are lower, becoming
more in line with international WMP values. According to some
industry participants, the domestic market tone is weaker,
sustained by higher seasonal farm milk production. Moderate to
heavy condensed milk volumes are clearing into dryers, which is
boosting dry whole milk output, nationwide. Therefore,
inventories are building throughout the country.

The October 2017 Dairy Market News monthly average for the
National price series for dry whole milk is $1.4350 compared to
$1.3365 a year ago.

The NASS Dairy Products report noted U.S. dry whole milk
production during September 2017 totaled 10.6 million pounds,
53.2 percent higher from one year ago, and 19.6 percent above the
previous month. Total U.S. dry whole milk month ending stocks for
September were 20.7 million pounds, 51.3 percent above last year.

At the GDT Event 199 on November 7, whole milk powder (WMP)
prices across all contract periods averaged $1.2937 per pound,
down 5.5 percent from the last event.
