USDA-SJ: Daily National Grain Market Summary

St. Joseph, MO - Thu, Oct 12, 2017 - USDA-MO Dept of Ag Market News

   Daily National Grain Market Summary
Compared to yesterday, cash bids for wheat were lower, soybeans, corn and
sorghum were higher. Today’s WASDE report revealed a higher corn crop yield
estimate of 171.8 bushels per acre resulting in a slightly higher 2.34
billion bushel US ending corn stock. Bearish news for the corn market
however, December corn was able to close 3 cents higher in part from spill
over buying from soybeans. Bullish news for the soybean market was also seen
in today’s report from a lower than expected 430 million bushel estimate of
US soybean ending stocks as well as a slightly lower yield estimate of 49.5
bushels per acre. This helped November soybeans rally and close 26 3/4 cents
higher in today’s trade. US ending Wheat stocks were increased 27 million
bushels to 960 million bushels adding to the bearish tone in the wheat market.
Wheat was mostly 2-3 cents lower. Corn was mostly 3 cents higher. Soybeans
were mostly 26 cents higher. Sorghum was 5 cents higher.
