The Australian sharemarket lost ground on Tuesday, with the S&P/ASX 200 shedding 0.7 per cent to close at 8,208.9 points. BHP was down 2.9 per cent at $44.64, Qantas fell 3.4 per cent to $7.17 and the Commonwealth Bank ended the session 1.5 per cent lower at $133.30. However, Sigma Healthcare rose 22.6 per cent to finish at $1.77 and Namoi Cotton was up 8.5 per cent at $0.77 after Louise Dreyfus increased its takeover offer..
