Industrial product prices in Canada keep increasing

Sep 12, 2020 (MENAFN via COMTEX) --

(MENAFN)

Statistics Canada said on Friday that Canada's Industrial Product Price Index (IPPI) increased 0.1 percent since a month ago in August.

August was the fourth month in a row showing expansion, without the energy and petroleum goods, the IPPI expanded 0.3 percent.

The increase resulted largely from the rise in prices for primary non-ferrous metal goods that kept increasing since April of 2020, and especially due to rises in the unwrought silver and silver alloys that expanded 29.1 percent, as well as unwrought gold and gold alloys that added 4.7 percent.

However, lumber and other wood goods saw an expansion of 1.1 percent, largely due to a continued expansion in prices for softwood lumber.
