SugarCRM appoints Shana Sweeney as chief human resources officer

Nov 05, 2019 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --

SugarCRM has announced the addition of Shana Sweeney as chief human resources officer, reporting to SugarCRM CEO, Craig Charlton.

“Shana has always been a strong proponent of putting our employees first to ensure Sugar is successful as a whole,” said Charlton. “Since her appointment as VP, Global People and Places, she has continued to elevate our corporate culture to one that consistently recognizes Sugar employees are not only our most important asset, but family members. Shana is at the vanguard of ensuring Sugar remains a highly desirable place to work.”

Sweeney joined SugarCRM in 2015 as Director of Human Resources. In that role, she led the global HR Operations team, served as HR Business Partner to Sugar’s technical teams, and provided proactive and strategic guidance and support for organizational planning and development initiatives. In 2019, she was promoted to the VP level, with responsibility for leading the long-term global strategy for the entire organization. During this time, her business support spanned nine locations, in five countries.

“Sugar is committed to attracting and retaining the best talent in this highly competitive industry. Each employee interaction provides a meaningful glimpse into their life and an opportunity to connect on a personal level. I strive to always make those personal connections and ensure that all employees feel like they can bring their full selves to the workplace,” said Sweeney. “Working in human resources where no two days are ever the same is what drives me.”

Sweeney brings a wealth of knowledge across a broad range of core competencies to include recruiting, employee relations, organizational development, HR technology, compensation, and benefits. A Silicon Valley veteran, she spent four years in the co-founder role at Nuna prior to coming to Sugar and was the Senior Human Resources Business Partner at Xactly. In addition, she has worked in compensation and benefit positions at Google and Severn Trent Services. She holds a BS degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an MS from the Fox School of Business at Temple University.

In her new position, Sweeney will be responsible for encouraging the recognition of Sugar’s most important assets – employees. All personnel-related strategies and policies will be prominently visible and proactively surfaced at the executive level.

“It’s important to understand the differences between organizations of all sizes and how they impact their number one asset – the employees,” Sweeney continued. “I’ve been fortunate to work in a variety of industries including software, insurance, utilities, and manufacturing in order to thoroughly understand how businesses operate.”
