(MENAFN) The Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) and the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) have signed a strategic agreement to collaborate on developing innovative energy solutions, enhancing research and exploration, and supporting the UAE's goal of diversifying its energy sources. According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the agreement aligns with the country's efforts to strengthen its green economy and transition to cleaner energy technologies.
Under the agreement, ENEC and ADNOC will work together to assess ADNOC's future energy needs and conduct technical and economic evaluations to identify the most suitable nuclear reactor technologies. This partnership aims to ensure ADNOC's energy requirements are met using advanced, reliable solutions while aligning with the UAE's sustainable energy objectives.
A key focus of the collaboration is the potential use of heat generated by the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plants. Both organizations are conducting feasibility studies to explore industrial applications for this heat, evaluating opportunities to integrate advanced technologies into current or future projects. The studies will provide recommendations for technologies that can enhance ADNOC's operational efficiency and support its sustainability initiatives.
Ahmed Al Mazrouei of ENEC emphasized the company's commitment to supporting the UAE's green economy through advanced nuclear innovations. Similarly, Ali Al Rawahi of ADNOC highlighted the importance of exploring small nuclear reactors and developing low-carbon energy solutions. He noted that the partnership underscores a shared dedication to leveraging clean and reliable energy while fostering technological innovation to achieve sustainable development goals.
