The Australian sharemarket edged higher on Wednesday, with the S&P/ASX 200 adding 0.1 per cent to close at 8,765.3 points. The local bourse failed to capitalise on a positive lead from Wall Street, with the Nasdaq reaching a record high. The resources sector was bolstered by the rising price of copper, with BHP up 1.4 per cent at $62.07 and Rio Tinto advancing 0.8 per cent to $167.61. However, Woodside Energy fell 1.7 per cent to $31.13, KMD Brands was down 6.4 per cent at $1.53 and Tuas shed 23.4 per cent to end the session at $1.79..
