The Australian sharemarket posted a solid gain on Tuesday, with the S&P/ASX 200 adding 0.6 per cent to close at 8,407.6 points. Fortescue rose 0.3 per cent to $15.58, Capstone Copper was up 6.8 per cent at $8.43 and Westpac advanced 1.7 per cent to $31.78. However, Newmont Corporation was down 1.6 per cent at $81.38 after going went ex-dividend and Nufarm shed 5.6 per cent to end the session at $2.36..
