UK-based Aberdeen Investments has signed an agreement to acquire MFSaEUR(TM) management of closed-end fund (CEF) assets, totalling AGBP1.5bn ($2bn).
As per the transaction, nine MFS funds and one Aberdeen CEF will be consolidated into two active CEFs with enhanced scale.A
A municipal bond fund with about $1bn in assets under management (AUM) will be created by consolidating four MFS municipal bond CEFs and one Aberdeen municipal bond CEF.A
In addition, five MFS taxable fixed income funds will combine to form a multi-sector fixed income closed-end fund, including private credit, with around $1.4bn in AUM.A
AberdeenaEUR(TM)s fixed income global head, Jonathan Mondillo, will manage both funds.A
Employees or corporate entities will not be transferred as part of the acquisition.A
