(MENAFN - Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18. Discussions wereheld on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Serbia,including the development of energy cooperation, Trend reports via a statement from Azerbaijan's Ministry of Economy.
According to the statement, a delegation headed by Azerbaijan'sDeputy Minister of Economy Anar Akhundov met with Dubravka DedovicÌHandanovicÌ, Serbia's Minister of Mining and Energy, in Belgrade aspart of a visit to Serbia.
"The meeting was also attended by representatives of SOCAR(State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and relevant Serbian statecompanies. During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan playsan important role in ensuring the energy security of Europe,including Serbia. Economic ties between the two countries areexpanding based on the principles of mutual respect and reliablepartnership. The energy sector is a key factor in strengtheningbilateral economic cooperation.
The sides discussed ways to enhance economic cooperation,including the possibility of jointly constructing a gas power plantnear the Serbian city of NisÌ?," the statement reads.
