Bitfarms Ltd. (BITF) announced a corporate share repurchase program, authorizing the buyback of up to 49,943,031 common shares (representing 10% of its public float) through July 2026. The move underscores management's belief that the company's shares are undervalued amid rising interest in its emerging high-performance computing (HPC) and AI infrastructure strategy.
The buybacks will occur through the Toronto Stock Exchange and Nasdaq, depending on market conditions and company liquidity needs. The purchases will be conducted at prevailing market prices, and all repurchased shares will be cancelled.
Bitfarms currently operates 15 data centers across four countries, with operations focused on Bitcoin mining and, increasingly, expansion into energy-intensive compute infrastructure such as AI workloads. CEO Ben Gagnon emphasized the strategic value of the company's Pennsylvania energy assets, which he believes will fuel scalable and financeable long-term growth.
The buyback program follows Bitfarms' recent efforts to reposition its business around a broader digital infrastructure strategy that includes both crypto mining and AI-related services. The company has also signed an automatic repurchase agreement with a broker to allow transactions during blackout periods.
Bitfarms is not obligated to complete any repurchase under the program but has expressed strong intent to deploy capital in ways that enhance shareholder value while continuing to build out its next-generation infrastructure.
