The expansion will increase yogurt tub output at the plant by 40% and boost its raw milk processing capacity by 20%. Just Food has asked for further details.

Construction is underway, with a new production line due to start operations next year, the company said in a statement on Friday (14 November). Danone is also looking to "modernise" the way the site uses energy.

Frederic Guichard, the president of Danone's operations in Canada, said: aEURoeThis significant investment underscores our commitment to supporting local production and delivering on what we do best at Danone: bringing health through food."

More than one in three dairy yogurts sold in Canada are made at the site, Danone added.

In the third quarter of 2025, DanoneaEUR(TM)s sales in North America grew 1.5% on a like-for-like basis, with volume/mix up just 0.3%.

At the time, commenting on North America, Danone warned of softness in the plant-based category where it plays in drinks with varieties of the Silk and Alpro brands.

aEURoeMomentum remained strong in high protein, with new innovations launched during the quarter. Coffee creamers are progressively regaining competitiveness. Plant-based remains work in progress.aEUR

Earlier this year, Danone also announced expansion at its plants in the US and Kazakhstan.

In August, the company set out plans for a aEURoemulti-million-dollar investmentaEUR to expand its Minster, Ohio yogurt factory, which produces Oikos, Activia, Dannon, and Danimals.

The project includes a 48,000 square-foot addition, new production line, and upgrades, creating 30 full-time jobs.

In June, Danone said it will more than double the output of its manufacturing plant in Kazakhstan.
