TORONTO, Apr 1, 2026 (CNW Group via COMTEX) --
Doane Grant Thornton (Doane) is excited to announce a planned leadership transition that reflects the strength, growth, and forward momentum of the Firm. Heath Moore has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective April 1, 2026. Heath succeeds Kevin Ladner, who has led the Firm through a period of continued growth and impact over the last decade and will continue to stay on as a Partner until he retires at the end of 2026.
As Doane builds on more than 85 years of helping Canadian businesses and communities thrive, the Firm's values, strategic direction, and commitment to delivering an exceptional client experience remain unchanged. This transition marks a natural evolution of a strong leadership team and reflects thoughtful and comprehensive succession planning by the Firm's Partnership Board.
"This leadership transition reflects the strength, growth, and long-term vision of our Firm," says Kevin Ladner. "Heath brings deep expertise, proven leadership, and a clear commitment to our clients, colleagues, and communities. I have full confidence in his ability to lead the Firm into its next chapter while staying true to the values and our Purpose that have guided us for decades."
A seasoned leader with deep roots at Doane
Heath brings nearly 30 years of experience with Doane to his role as CEO. He joined the Firm's assurance practice before transitioning early in his career to the tax team. He spent more than 20 years advising business owners and their families on complex tax and planning matters, building longâ??standing client relationships across private and public organizations.
Throughout his career, Heath has held several senior leadership roles, including National Tax Leader, where he advised on tax strategy and planning and acted as an advocate for clients on government and public policy issues. He also served six years on the Firm's Partnership Board and was Managing Partner for Nova Scotia, overseeing 11 office locations across the province.
Most recently, Heath served as Regional Managing Partner for Atlantic Canada, leading a diverse team of business advisors supporting organizations across the region. He's deeply committed to the communities where Doane's people live and work and to fostering collaborative leadership with client experience at the core.
Building on a strong legacy
Doane has evolved alongside its clients and communitiesâ??adapting through change while remaining grounded in strong relationships and trusted advice. Today, the Firm is well positioned for its next chapter, with a clear strategy, strong leadership, and a continued focus on delivering meaningful impact for Canadian businesses and communities.
"It's an honour to step into this role at such an exciting time for our Firm," says Heath. "Our legacy is a powerful foundation, and together with our leadership team, we are focused on building for the futureâ??advancing our strategy, investing in our people, and delivering exceptional value to our clients while supporting longâ??term, sustainable growth."
Additional leadership appointments
As part of this transition, Doane has introduced a series of leadership appointments across the country, reinforcing the Firm's strong regional presence and nationally aligned leadership model. Together, these changes reflect the continued evolution of Doane's leadership team and its focus on strategy, client experience, and long-term growth from coast-to-coast.
We're pleased to announce the following appointments:
Michelle Wettlaufer, Chief Financial Officer, and Norm Raynard, Chief Operating Officer, will continue in their roles on our National Management Committee.
These leadership changes collectively position Doane for its next chapterâ??strengthening communities, deepening client relationships, and ensuring consistent leadership across all regions.
Honouring Kevin Ladner
In recognition of Kevin's immense impact on the Firm, the communities we serve, and the CPA profession, the Doane Grant Thornton Foundation is proud to announce the "Amazing Lives, Rewarding Careers: Kevin Ladner Legacy Scholarship." Over the next 10 years, the Foundation will award 15 scholarships of $5,000 annually to third- and fourth-year accounting students from select schools across Canada, with representation from each of Doane's business unitsâ??supporting the next generation of accounting professionals and leaders. More details on the scholarship will be announced later in the year.
