Queensland's Natural Resources and Mines Minister Dale Last says the Taroom Trough has the potential to be one of the most significant onshore oil prospects in Australia for quite some time. With the Middle East conflict highlighting Australia's dependence on imported fuel, Omega Oil & Gas CEO Trevor Brown says the state government and the oil prospecting sector are working together to develop the Taroom Trough as soon as possible. He says it could be delivering oil to Ampol's refinery in Brisbane by as soon as 2028, while MST Marquee analyst Saul Kavonic says the Taroom Trough has the potential to provide up to one-quarter of Australia's fuel needs..
