Apr 12, 2026 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
Futures pricing suggests that Australian equities will gain about 0.8 per cent when the market opens on Monday, despite a negative lead from Wall Street and the failure of negotiations to end the Iran war. Ten Cap portfolio manager Jun Bei Liu expects investors to remain in a "holding pattern" during the coming week, with little movement in financial markets until there is more clarity about the outlook for the war. Data to be released this week will provide insight into the economic toll of the war, including Australia's unemployment rate for March. The S&P/ASX 200 fell 0.14 per cent to 8,960.6 on Friday. Meanwhile, Dow Jones Futures data for June points to the index falling 0.59 per cent to 48,129.00; it closed at 47,916.57 on Friday..
