Hungary plans tobuy more natural gas from Azerbaijan, Hungarian Minister of ForeignAffairs and Trade PeÌter SzijjaÌrtoÌ said during the 10th session ofthe Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation between thegovernments of Azerbaijan and Hungary, Trend reports.
"The partnership with Azerbaijan is a great opportunity for us the first time in history, we will receive Azerbaijani gas inHungary. This cooperation will continue in the future. We intend toincrease the volume of gas supplies from Azerbaijan. Azerbaijanioil will become an integral part of Hungary's energy basket,"SzijjaÌrtoÌ said.
Touching upon other spheres of cooperation, the HungarianForeign Minister emphasized that one of the largest Hungarianpharmaceutical companies signed a document on cooperation withAzerbaijan and, from next year, will produce up to 19 types ofproducts in Azerbaijan.
Meanwhile, the largest Hungarian wholesale trader of naturalgas, MVM CEEnergy, and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR)signed a contract earlier for the sale of 100 million cubic metersof gas. SOCAR has also started pumping the first 50 million cubicmeters of gas into storage facilities in Hungary.
To note, the 10th session of the Joint Commission on EconomicCooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and Hungary washeld in Baku.
At the one-on-one meeting held between the co-chairman of thecommission from Azerbaijan, Minister of Labor and Social ProtectionSahil Babayev, and the co-chairman from Hungary, Minister ofForeign Affairs and Trade of Hungary PeÌter SzijjaÌrtoÌ, the sidesexchanged views on the current state of ties between the twocountries and issues on the agenda of the meeting.
