Financial Services Minister Stephen Jones has responded to the tariffs regime of US President Donald Trump in a post-budget briefing to the Financial Services Council. Jones said the federal government will "aggressively defend" the open trading arrangements and the rules-based order that the nation has "massively" benefited from. He noted that Trump's protectionist policies have had a direct impact on Australians, with the average superannuation fund balance down by about 10 per cent in recent months. Jones, who will not contest the upcoming election, also defended Labor's economic management during its first term in office..
