New data shows that private capital expenditure fell by 3.6 per cent in the June quarter; capital expenditure in the mining sector rose by 1.5 per cent, while non-mining investment fell by 5.3 per cent. Goldman Sachs' chief economist Andrew Boak says firm now expects GPD growth of zero for the June quarter, based on the latest capital investment figures and recently-released construction spending data.
