Litgrid Introduces Transmission Network Consumption Capacity Map

Mar 03, 2026 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --

Litgrid, the operator of Lithuania's electricity transmission system, has introduced a digital tool called the Transmission Network Consumption Capacity Map.

Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has introduced a new digital tool – the Transmission Network Consumption Capacity Map. It provides information on where and what power electricity consumers could be connected to the transmission network based on previously conducted assessments. The map is intended for customers with high electricity demand – industrial companies, data center, electrolysis and other energy project developers planning investments in Lithuania.

The new map shows the locations where Litgrid has assessed the potential for connecting consumer devices, both based on customer requests and analyses. Each assessment point shows the highest power at a specific location that has been assessed and could be connected to the transmission network. You can see the map here .

"Determining consumption opportunities requires an individual assessment of a specific network location. As interest from developers grows, we are accumulating more and more assessments that have already been completed. By publishing this information publicly, we aim to provide transparent access to data for all market participants. We hope that this will help investors assess potential network connection points and plan projects more quickly and efficiently," says Ignas Junevicius, Head of the Renewable Energy Resources Center at Litgrid.

The map is recommended as one of the first steps in planning the connection of new consumption devices to the transmission network. Before submitting a request for consultation, the company invites you to analyze the information provided in it on previously performed assessments.

The published data is preliminary and reflects the results of assessments carried out in the past. Current day connection possibilities may vary, therefore, an individual assessment of the situation is carried out in each case. If customers apply for a new location or greater capacity than already announced, the anonymized assessment results will be additionally published on the map. The consumption capacity map complements the already operational Litgrid generation capacity map ( link ), which was updated in August 2025. It is also planned to expand the range of publicly available information. Over the course of the year, it is planned to consistently perform and publish detailed calculations of all main network nodes so that developers can see the transmission network capabilities at all Litgrid substations.

This year, detailed calculations are planned for the new Transmission Network Consumption Capacity Map, which will allow for regular assessment and publication of consumer connection options to the transmission network at all Litgrid substations.

The new tool creates an analogue to the distribution network operator's consumption opportunity maps and ensures that all types of customers - both renewable energy sources and both energy storage device and consumer project developers, regardless of the connection voltage level
