Spanish clothing retailer Mango has established a new partnership with Swedish company Circulose to incorporate materials derived from recycled cotton into its production process and promote circular materials within the fashion industry.
This strategic move is set to propel Mango towards achieving its sustainability goal of exclusively using fibres with a reduced environmental impact.
The alliance emphasises Mango's intent to transition a substantial portion of its man-made cellulosic fibres (MMCF) usage to those produced using Circulose technology.

Mango's broader sustainability roadmap encompasses driving innovation, adopting materials with lower environmental footprints, transitioning towards a circular textile economy, reducing carbon emissions throughout the supply chain, and ensuring the welfare of workers at every stage of the value chain.
Circulose is a regenerated material crafted from 100% reclaimed cotton-rich textiles. It serves as an alternative to virgin resources such as wood pulp or cotton, contributing to the creation of a more sustainable textile lifecycle without compromising on quality and design.
Circulose's commercial strategy seeks to establish closer relationships with brands, introduce an innovative pricing structure, and provide comprehensive support services.
The pricing approach, developed through collaborations with Fashion for Good and Canopy, involves a licensing model for Circulose.
This model aims to encourage widespread adoption of next-generation materials by removing cost barriers and expanding beyond small collections to mass-market integration.

The licensing agreement also encompasses services that facilitate large-scale adoption, including planning for the transition, managing supply chains effectively, and ensuring product traceability.
In April this year, Circulose forged a strategic alliance with Chinese manufacturer Tangshan Sanyou Chemical Fiber to advance textile circularity on a global scale.
In 2023, Mango introduced its inaugural denim collection created with circularity principles in mind. Following this, in 2024, the retailer incorporated cotton sourced from regenerative farming practices into its product range. This development was made possible through a collaboration with Materra, a British-Indian enterprise in sustainable agriculture.
