Midsummer signs solar panel distribution agreement with Eco On

Feb 18, 2025 (MarketLine via COMTEX) --

The collaboration is part of Midsummer's strategy to penetrate the Thai market.

Swedish thin film solar panel manufacturer Midsummer has signed a distribution agreement with Eco On, previously known as Gold Stone Energy Thailand, a Thailand-based company engaged in the installation of solar rooftop and solar carport solutions.

The collaboration is part of Midsummer's strategy to penetrate the Thai market, which includes plans for a 200MW solar plant in partnership with a consortium in Thailand.

Eco On specialises in offering comprehensive solar energy solutions, including rooftop installations, ground-mounted systems and solar carports.

The company has established partnerships with major energy corporations and conglomerates in Thailand, playing a significant role in the nation's renewable energy landscape.

Eco On will distribute and install MidsummeraEUR(TM)s lightweight and flexible solar panels throughout Thailand.

Eco On co-founder and managing director Ariya Sawangsri stated: "We are delighted to collaborate with Midsummer to offer our clients cutting-edge solar solutions with great functionality that address some of the major weaknesses in existing roofs within Thailand.

"Midsummer's lightweight panels are particularly advantageous for commercial and industrial buildings with flat roofs that cannot support traditional, heavier solar panels. Additionally, we see substantial potential for these panels in offshore floating solar applications, which are gaining momentum in Southeast Asia."

MidsummeraEUR(TM)s BOLD series of flexible solar panels weighing 3kg/mA is specifically designed for low load-bearing flat roofs, a niche market on which the company is keen to focus.

Midsummer CEO Eric Jaremalm stated: aEURoeThailand is a very interesting market for us and one that can benefit greatly by rolling out thin and lightweight solar roofs on its many buildings that are often basking in the sun but with roofs that are too weak for heavy silicon solar panels.

aEURoeOur panels are ideal for these roofs and we look forward to entering this virgin market together with Eco On, and hopefully eventually with panels that are made in Thailand.aEUR
