Nov 05, 2025 (The Australian - ABIX via COMTEX) --
The Minerals Council of Australia's 120 members directly employ a combined 6,000 people who are Aboriginals or Torres Strait Islanders. Matt Denyer, the MCA's principal adviser for Indigenous partnerships, will address the Aboriginal Enterprises in Mining, Energy and Exploration conference in Darwin today. He will contend that Indigenous people must aspire to own mines, petroleum leases and processing infrastructure, rather than simply being subcontractors. He will note that despite mining exports contributing $405m to the economy, Australia currently has only one Indigenous-led mine and no Indigenous-owned minerals processing facilities..
