The National Council of Textile Organisations (NCTO) has elected Parkdale Mills' president Charles Heilig as the new chairman and Barnet's president and CEO Chuck Hall as the new vice chairman.
NCTO said that Heilig and Hall will be leading the office for fiscal year 2024.
Heilig is president of Parkdale Mills, based in Gastonia, North Carolina, an American manufacturer of yarn and cotton consumer products. While, Hall is the president and CEO of Barnet based in Spartanburg, South Carolina, a 125-year-old manufacturer of technical textiles.
NCTO President and CEO Kim Glas said: "I want to thank our new Chairman Charles Heilig and Vice Chairman Chuck Hall for stepping into these critical roles and their vital contribution to the Board and NCTO. As we navigate the challenging times ahead, their input and leadership will be invaluable, and we will work together to advocate for policies that help bolster the US textile industry and our Western Hemisphere partners and deter policies that are detrimental to this vibrant domestic supply chain, employing more than 500,000 workers."
The newly appointed NCTO chairman Heilig has reportedly elected additional executives to serve on the executive committee: Anderson Warlick of Parkdale Mills; Norman Chapman of Inman Mills; John Maness of Gildan; Amy Bircher Bruyn of MMI Textiles; and Jackie Ferrari of American Fashion Network.
In addition to the appointment of a new chairman and vice chairman, NCTO elected chairs for each of its five councils.
NCTO explained that its five councils comprise a broad representation of the industry supply chain with each council having an allotted number of members who are elected to the associationaEUR(TM)s Board of Directors, in addition to the Executive Committee.

Recently, NCTO president and CEO Glas commended chairman Jason Smith and Rep. Greg Murphy of the Ways and Means Committee for shedding light on ChinaaEUR(TM)s aEURoesystematic abuseaEUR of US trade laws, which she said adversely affects American manufacturers and workers, and supports forced labour in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region under the current de minimis law.
