The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority's chairman John Lonsdale is a member of the specialist panel that will assess potential successors to outgoing Australian Securities & Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo. The other members of the panel are Treasury secretary Jenny Wilkinson and the head of the Attorney-General's Department, Katherine Jones. ASIC's deputy chair Sarah Court is widely regarded as the leading contender to replace Longo, although Liberal senator Andrew Bragg - a vocal critic of ASIC - argues that an external candidate should be appointed. Longo will step down in May after declining an extension of his five-year term..
