Aug 10, 2025 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --
A spokeswoman for the Perth Mint has acknowledged concerns have been expressed about how some of its customers may be using a product known as gold chloroauric acid, which can be converted into gold. The Mint has been exporting regular shipments of gold chloroauric acid to India on behalf of a company called Hindustan Platinum, with gold chloroauric acid attracting a lower tariff than gold. Should it transpire that the gold chloroauric acid is being converted into gold, the Indian government will have missed out on millions in dollars of lost revenue; the Perth Mint spokeswoman says it has been assured by Hindustan Platinum that the gold chloroauric acid it is exporting to India is only being used for industrial purposes.
