The Australian Prudential Regulation Authority has told banks, insurance companies and superannuation funds to be vigilant when it comes to defending the nation's financial system from risks such as insider threats to steal information and disinformation campaigns. The banks are being urged to boost their vetting of senior executives, while directors are being called upon to improve the integration of geopolitical risk into governance and crisis management frameworks. With APRA chairman John Lonsdale and Reserve Bank assistant governor Brad Jones giving co-ordinated speeches at an Australian Banking Association conference on Wednesday, ABA CEO Simon Birmingham said the major banks are "prioritising investment in understanding geopolitical risk and building resilience"..
