RE&UP, a company specialising in circular technology, claims to have become the first company in the textile industry to obtain C2C Certified Circularity for its entire product range.
This certification, granted by the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute to RE&UP, is a gold-standard validation for designs that are prepared with circularity in mind.
RE&UP general manager Andreas Dorner said: aEURoeThis certification demonstrates that RE&UP is ready to tackle sustainability challenges at scale for the whole industry. It proves that recycled fibres can go beyond one-off sustainability claims. With Cradle to Cradle Certified Circularity, weaEUR(TM)re demonstrating full-system readiness aEUR" from sourcing to end-of-life.aEUR
The certification covers three RE&UP's products:
- Next-Gen Recycled Cotton (Pre-Consumer) aEUR" Platinum level
- Next-Gen Recycled Cotton (Post-Consumer) aEUR" Platinum level
- Textile-to-Textile Recycled Polyester Chips aEUR" Silver level
The certification process evaluates materials based on their chemical safety, compatibility for recycling, end-of-life recovery systems, and inclusion of recycled content, among other criteria.
Eco Intelligent Growth (EIG), an accredited third-party assessment body, conducted the evaluation.
Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute CEO and executive director Elwyn Grainger-Jones stated: aEURoeThis achievement sets a strong precedent for what fibre innovation can look like in a circular economy. It raises the bar for whataEUR(TM)s possible and expected from material suppliers across the fashion and textile sectors.aEUR
RE&UP cites Circle Economy's 2025 Circularity Gap Report that says more than 99% of textiles are produced using virgin materials and only 6.9% of the global economy is circular.
Global brands are already using RE&UP's fibres as they aim to transition from pilot-scale circularity projects to broader applications. The company embeds traceability, regulatory compliance, and mechanical integrity into its fibres to support industry-wide progress towards circularity.
RE&UP chief sustainability officer Ebru Ozkucuk Guler said: aEURoeAchieving these certifications as the first in the market speaks to the quality of our materials and our dedication to providing scalable sustainable solutions to the textile industry. Our materials were assessed not just for recycled content, but for their compatibility with future recovery, safe use cycles, and the sustainability of the surrounding infrastructure all of which are critical to providing true circularity solutions at a scale to the largest players in textiles. It reflects the robust technology of our approach and our commitment to creating solutions that donaEUR(TM)t compromise on quality, scale, or impact.aEUR
In March this year, major textile-to-textile (T2T) recyclers including RE&UP joined forces to establish the T2T Alliance, a collaborative effort aimed at driving policy changes to foster a circular textile industry.
