Hut 8 Corp. (HUT) has energized its new flagship Bitcoin mining facility, known as Vega, a 205â?'megawatt data center capable of supporting nearly 15 exahashes per second of mining power. The massive 162,000â?'squareâ?'foot building, roughly the size of five football fields, could become the world's largest singleâ?'building Bitcoin mine based on nameplate hashrate.
Unlike traditional airâ?'cooled setups, Vega uses an inâ?'house designed rackâ?'based directâ?'toâ?'chip liquid cooling system. Each rack can handle up to 180 kilowatts of power, delivering far greater compute density than standard GPU farms. Hutâ?¯8 says this design boosts thermal efficiency and reliability in highâ?'temperature environments like Texas.
The facility can host up to 17,280 BITMAIN U3S21EXPH mining servers. Each miner delivers 860 terahashes per second at 13 joules per terahash. Power comes from a mix of behindâ?'theâ?'meter wind generation and the ERCOT grid. With an annual power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.06, the site is designed for unmatched energy efficiency.
Vega is already under contract with BITMAIN. Once fully energized, it is expected to generate between $110 million and $120 million in annual revenue, depending on energy prices and uptime. The agreement also gives Hutâ?¯8 the option to buy all or part of the hosted equipment in tranches, potentially growing its selfâ?'mining capacity from 10 to approximately 25â?¯EH/s under its American Bitcoin Corp. subsidiary.
Hutâ?¯8 CEO Asher Genoot calls Vega a reflection of its designâ?'first, innovationâ?'driven approach, combining quick market deployment with a scalable platform for future use. Senior Vice President Jake Palmer adds that the facility is built to meet the needs of highâ?'performance computing workloads, such as AI training, that demand speed density and cost efficiency.
Since acquiring the site in July 2024, Hutâ?¯8 has moved from groundbreaking to initial energization in under a year. That quick pace underscores its ability to convert energy assets into productive infrastructure at scale.
Hutâ?¯8 now manages 1,020â?¯megawatts of energy capacity, spread across 15 sites in the United States and Canada. Its portfolio includes mining and compute hubs, power generation assets and hosting services.
