Wall Street inspires Westpac loan plan

Sep 06, 2026 (The Australian Financial Review - ABIX via COMTEX) --

Rob Taylor joined Westpac last week from Goldman Sachs, with Taylor to head up a new strategy that will see more of its loan book opened up to private credit and superannuation funds, in what has been described as a Wall Street-inspired approach. Taylor will work with Nell Hutton, who also used to work for Goldman Sachs and now runs Westpac's institutional banking division, to find opportunities for investors, thereby freeing up Westpac's balance sheet for other uses. Taylor is one of a number of new people to join Westpac recently, with Rebecca James and Caroline Bowler having joined it from ASB Bank and BTC Markets respectively.
