These expansions are designed to reduce land use and environmental impact, while increasing natural gas volumes in the region.
Williams has commissioned two Transco pipeline expansion projects, the Southeast Energy Connector and the Texas to Louisiana Energy Pathway, to meet growing energy demand in south-eastern US.
These expansions are designed to reduce land use and environmental impact while increasing natural gas volumes in the region.
The Texas to Louisiana Energy Pathway increases the Transco pipeline's capacity by 364 million cubic feet per day (mcf/d).
It helps enhance energy infrastructure reliability and diversification along the Gulf Coast, a significant demand centre for domestic energy needs and liquefied natural gas (LNG) export activities.
The Southeast Energy Connector facilitates the conversion of electric power generation in Alabama from coal to natural gas, providing 150mcf/d to support the area's clean energy requirements.
Williams CEO and president Alan Armstrong said: aEURoeI congratulate our team for the efficient completion of these projects, demonstrating our ability to execute large-scale expansions in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
aEURoeDemand for affordable, reliable and clean natural gas continues to grow across US markets, driven by increasing electric power generation, reshoring of energy-intensive manufacturing data centre load growth and LNG exports.
aEURoeWilliams is committed to meeting this demand with 12 high-return transmission projects currently in execution, which will add more than 3.25 billion cubic feet per day [bcf/d] to our transmission systems over the next several years.aEUR
These expansions come after aEURoerecord-breakingaEUR natural gas transmission volumes. Transco registered 19 of the 20 highest-volume days last winter due to heating, electric power generation and LNG exports along the Transco corridor.
Williams announced 12 new projects in September last year, which are expected to add around 4.2bcf/d from 2024 to 2027.
The company recently completed 17 projects, adding approximately 5bcf/d of capacity from 2018 to 2023.
