'Fertiliser for friends': Jakarta fix

Australian farmers are contending with the rising cost of fertiliser and a growing global shortage due to the Iran war. The nation is largely dependent on imports for urea, which is a key ingredient in fertiliser and the AdBlue diesel fuel additive. Rahmad Pribadi, the CEO of state-owned fertiliser manufacturer Pupuk Indonesia, says he has assured Australia's ambassador Rod Brazier that Indonesia will be a reliable supplier of fertiliser and urea. Pribadi says it is in his nation's interests for Australia to remain a strong agricultural producer and exporter, given that Indonesia imports the bulk of commodities such as sugar, wheat and meat from Australia..
