News Corporation has posted net income of $US144m ($216m) for the first quarter of 2024-25, compared with $US58m during the previous corresponding period. Revenue increased by three per cent year-on-year to $US2.58bn, with strong growth recorded by its book publishing arm, Dow Jones and digital real estate services such as REA Group. News Corp CEO Robert Thomson says the strong performance in the first quarter underlines the successful transformation of the media company over the last decade. Thomson also indicated that News Corp is holding "active discussions" regarding Foxtel; he had stated in August that there has been "third-party interest" in buying the pay-TV and streaming provider..
